The beginnings

It all began in the basement of our two founders: Paul-Émile Lord and his wife, Rolande Lapointe, in 1974. Named PL Distribution enr. at the time, the company distributed replacement parts to car dealerships.

The foundation

The company was soon incorporated in 1976 under the name we know today: PR Distribution Inc. Their son Guy Lord, at age 18, joins the team to expand the family business and to better serve its growing clientele.

A new market

Guy Lord sees the potential of a new market: automotive fasteners and electrical products. He creates the PROLITE® and FASBEC™ product lines.

Expansion

Claire Lord, Guy's sister, joins the management team. In the same year, PRD builds its new service outlet at 5420 rue Rideau in Quebec.

The boom

The opening of the Saguenay (Quebec) branch marks the beginning of a significant expansion initiative across the province.

The assertion

The company's 25^th anniversary is marked by the unveiling of a website and the acquisition of new trademarks for chemical products sold under our private label.
PRD now has over 35 employees and offers more than 50,000 diversified and complementary products. A dozen representatives serve Quebec and the Maritimes.

New head office

To mark our 35th anniversary, PRD acquires an 11,900-square-meter site at 6500 rue Zephirin-Paquet, in the Armand-Viau industrial park, which becomes our new head office in 2013.

PRD experiences steady growth with a team of over 65 employees, catering to various activity sectors.

Further and further

PR Distribution expands its sales into Ontario and becomes a member of the industry's largest independent buying group: AD Canada.

Two of Guy's sons, Alexandre, and François Lord, become involved full-time in the family business.

The third generation

The youngest of the family, Olivier, returns to the company and inaugurates the company’s new brand image. The third generation, Alexandre, François, and Olivier Lord, become co-owners.

Continued expansion

PRD exceeds 100 employees and expands its headquarters to accommodate unprecedented growth. In a strategic move, the company strengthens its inventory management system by introducing the PROSYS® brand.

OIQ acquisition

PRD acquires Outillage Industriel Quebec Ltd (OIQ), aiming to diversify its service offerings and solidify the company’s leadership position.
