What are the Diferent Grades of Bolts
Within the industrial market in Quebec, there are several standards in hardware. Regarding imperial bolts, there are four main grades: 2, 5, 8 and L9. Fortunately, these grades are clearly identified on the head of the bolts. To identify the rank of imperial bolt (measured in fractions), one has to look over it's head. All information regarding the grade is stamped. All these grades of bolts are available at PR Distribution. Contact us for more information on our inventory.
Grade 2
G2: The grade two is the lowest grade on the market. A large majority of hardware available in retail stores is graded two screws, nails, carriage bolts, etc.. This is why the majority of security bolts are graded 2, they will tend to bend before thye break which helps identify and prevent some possible breakage.
Grade 5
G5: The grade five is the most common grade in the industrial market. Often referred to as the'' grade basic'' or'' standard''. It is a grade'''' go anywhere with a nice combination of strength and flexibility.
Grade 8
The grade is the grade eight dedicated for heavy duty applications. Trucking, buses, heavy machinery and heavy applications are only a few areas currently using this type of degree. The eight grade is distinguished by its high load capacity, even at low diameter. Unlike grades two and five, grade eight is not much flexibility. It is'' breaking'', but at a much greater force.
Grade L9
Grade L9 or commonly known as'' 12'' grade is the grade of choice for manufacturers and repairers of heavy machinery. The mining industry, or excavations are heavy, Quebec, major consumers of this type of degree.
